ABOUT ABOUT

Course Fee: $100

Time Required: 8 hours

This online course utilizes PowerPoint slides to illustrate pertinent information. It is divided into three sections: Day 1 will be online via Zoom from 6-9pm. Topics covered will include: firearm safety/storage; pistol components/functions; and ammunition fundamentals. Day 2 will also be online via Zoom from 6-9pm. Topics are: fundamentals of pistol shooting; shooting positions; shooting errors/malfunctions; selecting pistols, ammunition, and accessories; cleaning/maintenance; and shooting activities. Toward the end of the second day each participant will complete a 50-item online test and submit it via email. Day 3 will be a two-hour range class with live-fire and qualification from 10am-12noon. This session will be scheduled on the first Saturday after Day 2. Ohio concealed carry law will be covered during the class, but participants will not be examined on it.

Once you have completed the online registration and paid for the course, you will receive an email containing a Zoom link and additional information. (Be sure to use a valid email address.) At least two days prior to Day 1, participants must pick up the textbook, NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting from NW Ohio CCW. This book will serve as a reference during the classroom portion of the course. Participants will be allowed to utilize it during the open-book final exam on Day 2. When picking up the book, class participants must sign a waiver and pay any additional fees that may be due, e.g. firearm rental. Those who successfully complete this class will receive a certificate stating that they have met the requirements set forth by the Ohio Attorney General for the issuance of the Ohio Concealed Handgun License. This document will be submitted along with your license application to your county sheriff.

Those not familiar with Zoom should visit https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/categories/200101697-Getting-Started several days prior to the scheduled Zoom class.
